Colored planting plans

Top-down plans that show every tree, shrub and bed in color, with a legend people can actually read.

What a colored plan shows

A colored planting plan turns a technical plan into something a client can read. Trees appear as canopy circles at the size you choose, shrubs and perennials as soft shapes in their bloom or leaf color, lawn and gravel as clear textures, and hardscape in its material color. A legend explains each symbol in plain words.

Planted size or mature size

A plan drawn at planting size looks sparse; a plan at mature size looks full but can mislead. We can draw both, or show mature canopies as outlines over young planting, so the client sees where the garden is heading.

Where they are used

  • Client presentations, next to one or two eye-level renders
  • HOA and design review submissions
  • Contractor bids and installation sheets with plant counts
  • Before-and-after boards for a portfolio, once a project is built

What we need

  • Your planting plan (PDF or CAD) or a marked-up survey
  • A plant list with sizes, or the look you want
  • North arrow and scale
  • Any labels to include, such as zone names or plant codes

Questions

Can you add plant photos to the legend?

We can add simple illustrated swatches. We don't use stock photos of specific plants unless you supply them.

Do you check plant choices?

No. We draw the plan you give us. Plant selection, spacing and irrigation stay with your designer or contractor.
